1. Define a measurable goal
Start with a concrete outcome: valid signups, first purchases or repeat purchases. Choose a time window and avoid combining unrelated goals in one journey.
2. Identify the signal and consent
A visit, cart or purchase can start a sequence. Verify channel permission and reliable event collection.
3. Design conditions and exits
Add reasonable delays, exclusions and an exit when the goal is met. Customers who already purchased should stop receiving cart reminders.
4. Prepare contextual content
A new visitor’s message can differ from a returning customer’s. Use reliable catalogue data and attributes; check personalisation and links before activation.
5. Measure without claiming everything
Compare periods, clicks and conversions. Opens can be distorted, and attributed sales alone do not prove campaign-driven incremental lift.
